A cute fossils themed tea or expresso cup from Okinawan ceramics artist Yuuki Tomura. Because these are handmade, the design may not be exactly as shown in the image.
Tsuboyayaki: The southernmost Japanese prefecture, Okinawa, was once its own kingdom for more than five hundred years (1372 – 1879). The Ryukyu Kingdom and the society and culture that developed around it was a crossroads between Southeast Asia, China, Korea, and Japan. Tsuboyayaki or Tsuboya ware is the traditional pottery technique of the Ryukyu culture, and is well-known throughout Japan. Recently, the kilns of Okinawa have been so popular that they sell their products to retailers at markets held every 3 months where buyers line up for 2-3 hours just to get in.
